The “Lotus Run” on the South Fork of the American River is the perfect introduction to partaking on a whitewater rafting trip with young kids. This mellow family float style trip meets at our campground in Lotus, CA at 1:00 P.M. and heads towards the river put in at historical James Marshall Gold Discovery State Park. From here gear is distributed and a formal safety talk is given that is dictated to the young kids in your group. Typically this trips last about 3 hours.

The relaxed pace and calm rapids allow for a perfect introduction to the outdoors for kids not quite ready for Class 3 rapids. Opportunities to jump off small rocks, float in the calm current and just enough big splashes from the waves to keep them engaged makes this a great float trip.
