This is the age that might enjoy whitewater rafting the most. Our guides are specially trained to take youth on educational and memorable whitewater rafting trips, while providing the highest focus on safety. It is our goal to ensure that this is the vacation the kids won’t stop talking about.

Whitewater Rafting Trips for young kids

 (Ages 4-6)

Kids as young as 4 are welcome to enjoy a rafting trip down some of the many rivers H2O Adventures offers. These trips are considered more of a “float style” trip, but do include an escape into the wilderness and a perfect first step into the wild. Typically for younger kids, we only offer trips that are considered “half-day” options.

The “Lotus Run” of the South Fork of the American River

A great escape to the South Fork of the American with Class I-II rapids to travel down. Spots to swim, jump off small rocks, and have the kids learn the art of whitewater rafting in a safe and controlled section of river

  • Rafting can be an exciting and rewarding experience for young kids. Not only is it a great way to spend time together outdoors, but it also teaches young children important lessons about teamwork, respect, and safety. Here are some tips for making the most of a rafting experience with kids.

    1. Start Small. Depending on your child's age and confidence level, start with an easier, shorter rafting trip. This will help them get used to the process and equipment, as well as give them a sense of accomplishment. There are plenty of beginner-friendly rafting trips available, so don't be afraid to look into them.

    2. Make Safety a Priority. Before embarking on your rafting adventure, H2O Adventures will make sure that everyone is outfitted with the appropriate safety gear, such as life jackets and helmets. Our head guide will give a safety talk with your kids before you get on the water and make sure they understand the importance of following directions.

    3. Have Fun. Rafting is all about having a great time, so make sure to keep the fun going throughout the trip. Feel free to bring along some snacks and drinks, as well as some games and toys to keep your kids entertained. And don't forget to take plenty of pictures along the way. On some sections photo companies will be there to capture you and your family as you navigate down the rapids together.
