Rafting on free flowing snow melt river water, combined with ample wildflowers and the beauty of the river canyon makes it seem like there isn’t a better place in the world than springtime in California.
The 2026 springtime rafting season will be short this year, with trips running from mid March through early-May. Due to our below-average snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains, rivers will run too low for rafting once the majority of the snow melts, likely around May 16th or 17th this year.

If you are looking for a great springtime rafting experience but not a advanced Class 4 or 5 options, the South Fork of the American River offers trips almost year round from March though November. Half-day and full-day options on the most popular river on the west coast.
