The American River is the place to be for your whitewater rafting adventure in the summer of 2026, and H2O Adventures is here to provide those rafting trips that at the end of summer make you think, that rafting trip was the highlight of our summer.
It has been a interesting water year in the State of California. With less than 50% average snow-pack in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, one might think the rivers would also be low. However, due to some epic rainstorms early in the year, and 100% filled reservoirs this spring, the American River is guaranteed to have recreational flows for whitewater rafting 7 days a week from now until mid-September.
With rafting being available seven days a week, this gives you many choices when planning a trip with H2O Adventures. These options include half-day, full-day, or multi-day rafting trips. First-timers, fifth-timers, individuals who can’t swim, or those who might like to see a family member swim (unintentionally of course)—H2O Adventures has the rafting trip for you.

South Fork American River
The South Fork of the American River is our most popular trip, with more availability for rafting trips than any place in the United States. Opening in March and running through November, hundreds of thousands of rafters experience a trip down this river each year for good reason. In the spring time, the wildflowers are out, the water is a little higher, and the rafting experience is remarkable for a half-day or full-day trip on the river. Middle Fork of the American River
The Middle Fork is a more challenging river as compared to the South Fork of the American, however this river is what we like to call “introductory Class 4” whitewater rafting. The majority of the class 4 rapids end in nice calm pools in the event of you falling out of the raft. Previous whitewater rafting is encouraged, however first timers, who are comfortable around the water are welcome to try this river out for their first time rafting.
